Vacuum Infused Glassing
What is Vacuum Infused Glassing?
This process starts with the blank being wrapped with dry cloth on the top and bottom deck, no epoxy resin applied. The board is put into a bag and attached to a pump. The pump is used to suck all the air out of the bag which pushed down the cloth tightly onto the PU blank. Then we add the epoxy resin under pressure to drive the resin into a laminate which is pull through the system and ultimately glasses the board. This method is called vacuum-infused glassing. This technique has proven to produce lighter, stronger surfboards with better overlaps as there is a lot less resin used found in hand laminating.
Is this the same as Vacuum Bagging?
Vacuum bagging is not vacuum infused glassing, these processes are different. Vacuum bagging is where the blank is hand laminated as normal with resin and put into the bag wet. The pump is turned on and the bag pushes down all the cloth. This method uses more resin when compared to vacuum infused glassing as its hand laminated.

What boards can I order that are Vacuum Infused?
Your can order your favorite Spider model custom to your preferences.
What glassing option are there?
The great news is you have a choice of 3 options when you order and we will assist you in choosing the right one for you:
Standard Cloth:
This is your standard woven fiberglass cloth used in normal production. We offer both the 4oz and 6oz options.
Basalt Cloth:
Basalt cloth is like fiberglass but the actual fiber is made from pure natural volcanic basalt rock. Basalt has better strength, its impact resistant and thermal resistant properties than standard fiberglass. Basalt fibers are environmentally-neutral as they are made from 100% natural rock.
Carbon Cloth:
This carbon is a plain weave 200g/sm or equivalent to 6oz cloth. It is lightweight and highly durable carbon fiber cloth.
Other Options:
You can choose whether you want a Polyurethane blank (PU) or Expanded Polystyrene blank (EPS). We infuse with both Epoxy or Polyester resin.
